Barbara Maida

MaidaPeople who love ideas, teach.

Ms. Maida decided long ago that the best way to educate people of all ages was to show how exciting the process could be. Before becoming a college science teacher in 2000, she had worked for several years as a health educator in Los Angeles, providing the kind of information that typically falls through the cracks of the greater social system. And doing so in a way that was neither pedantic nor by-the-book. This is her method of teaching science, especially to those who believe that they do not like science.

Barbara prides herself in being able to link many types of information, and then present the big idea in a way that is clear, without losing sight of the details, which comprise the whole. To keep her public speaking skills tuned up, she presents papers at various symposia, often under the auspices of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She is currently a doctoral candidate (aka ABD) at UCLA.
